Cardinal López Romero Steps Back Amid Investigation: Spanish-born Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero, Archbishop of Rabat, has stepped back from public ministry after five adult women filed complaints against him. The Vatican has opened a preliminary investigation, while the cardinal denies all allegations. The women accuse López Romero of unwanted physical contact, including prolonged hugs, attempted kisses, and other conduct they describe as sexually inappropriate.
At least five women have accused Cristobal Cardinal Lopez Romero, the Spanish-born Archbishop of Rabat, Morocco, of sexual violence, prompting the Vatican to open a formal investigation into the Pope Francis appointed Cardinal.
Worse than Germany: Archbishop Erio Castellucci of Modena-Nonantola has proposed a form of liturgical "co-presidency" in which women would lead the Liturgy of the Word while priests would preside over the Eucharistic consecration. The proposal appears in a speech published on May 24 in the diocesan bulletin, delivered at a conference organized by the Centro Italiano Femminile in Carpi. Monsignor Castellucci is the vice President of the Italian bishops and President of the National Committee for the Italian Synod. He suggested that women could take responsibility for the first part of the Eucharist, proclaiming the Resurrection "as Mary Magdalene did to the apostles." This would sidestep "the impasse" over women's ordination while still respecting Church teaching that only a priest can consecrate. Archbishop Castellucci also called for expanding shared governance in the Church, proposing that consultative councils' recommendations be made binding after a process of "consensus-building,"…Hafa
Rector of the chief SSPX seminary (Écône) Fr. Bernard de Lacoste stated that it's -- “absolutely certain that priests faithful to Tradition now benefit from a supplementary jurisdiction which allows them to validly absolve all the faithful who come to confess to them.” Says the SSPX-Rome problem is “doctrinal, not disciplinary,” adding –– “What bothers the Roman authorities today is our attachment to Catholic doctrine & our rejection of the errors of the Second Vatican Council. That is the heart of the problem.”
How can a previously invalid punishment today be valid, while what was legally and totally valid be invalid today? It is definitely not logical or sane.
“We must put an end to liturgical abuses that contradict the teachings of the Second Vatican Council,” Cardinal Antonio María Rouco Varela, 89, Archbishop Emeritus of Madrid, told LaNuovaBq.it on July 7. Furthermore, he called for “understanding for those who wish to attend the older rite” and for “respect for the freedom of the faithful within the communion of the Church” - that is, “not by imposing excessive regulations.” He described Pope Benedict XVI’s Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum (July 7, 2007) as “a very understanding and balanced measure, and I think it was a good one.” He added: “In Madrid there is still a church where the traditional rite is celebrated.” German Bishops Acting Against the Church On the German Synodal Way, Cardinal Rouco Varela said that “canon law has been stretched beyond its limits” and warned that the situation “affects the fundamental aspects of the faith.” If the planned synodal committee in Germany were to function as “a body exercising authority within …Hafa

Turin Parish Holds Funeral for Muslim. Worse than Germany: On 3 July, the body of an Iranian Muslim was brought to Sant'Anna parish in Turin for a ceremony led by the parish priest, Don Valter Danna. The service included Christian prayers and the use of incense. Don Danna said it was not a Catholic funeral but rather a "prayer of farewell," explaining that the family had close ties to the parish. He confirmed that the ceremony was intentionally distinguished from a Catholic funeral.
"Diciamo che si è persa la capacità di costruire un bel luogo dove ritrovarsi. La freddezza della struttura in cemento armato, l'assenza completa di qualcosa che assomigli ad un segno di vita nel luogo è tipico dei luoghi Religiosi; come privato della Sua parte migliore il luogo rende opprimente la sosta e forte la voglia di correre via. CATHOLIC DOCTRINE TEACHES: CCC 1184 "Ecclesiastical funeral rites are to be denied, unless the deceased gave some signs of repentance before death: 1. to notorious apostates, heretics, or schismatics; 2. to those who requested the cremation of their bodies for reasons contrary to the Christian faith; 3. to other manifest sinners, to whom ecclesiastical funeral rites cannot be granted without public scandal to the faithful." Can. 1185 Any funeral Mass must also be denied to a person excluded from ecclesiastical funeral rites.
What is deeply tragic is the case of priests unfaithful to Christ who prefer to remain in a cage—in full communion with the apostate Prevost and the homosexual Tucho, who defies God and the Church—while deluding themselves into believing they will be saved simply because they are united with an apostate masquerading as Pope.
The episcopal consecrations by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X in Écône on July 1 have revived an old question: how many Catholics are attached to the FSSPX? The answer is surprisingly elusive. Depending on the source, estimates range from around 100,000 to as many as 600,000 faithful worldwide. The FSSPX itself continues to publish the figure of 600,000 faithful. However, the number of 600,000 comes from a speech delivered in 2007 by Cardinal Darío Castrillón Hoyos, then President of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei. Speaking to the Latin American bishops at Aparecida, he stated that the "Lefebvrian group" consisted of four bishops, 500 priests and 600,000 faithful. The number is difficult to reconcile with the FSSPX’s infrastructure. The FSSPX has approximately 730 priests, about 180 priories and houses, and 750 chapels and Mass centres. Many of these chapels are small mission stations where Mass is celebrated only once or twice a month with few faithful. In 2019, Fr Pascal …Hafa
I know in my Church it's packed during the three Masses held in the morning. And then there is one at night. Usually about half full. You will see people standing during the day. There is a nursing room also with mothers and small children as well as in the Vestibule. And also sometimes in a side room. It holds about 1,000 people or so I believe. We have 7 SSPX Church's in Florida. I would say, and would like to believe that there is at least 600,000 SSPX supporters and attendees.

"FSSPX Confessions Are Valid" - Müller Contradicts Tucho: On July 6, K-TV asked Cardinal Gerhard Müller whether confessions heard by priests of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X are valid or invalid. Contrary to Cardinal Tucho Fernández, he replied: "The confessions are valid, but illicit. The power to forgive or retain sins is conferred through the sacrament of Holy Orders. Its exercise can only be restricted by the bishop or the Pope, as provided by canon law."

Tibetan Rituals in a U.S. Church. Worse than Germany: On Monday, more than 60 Tibetans gathered at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley, Massachusetts, to celebrate the Dalai Lama's 91st birthday and mark the conclusion of the "Year of Compassion," an initiative of the Central Tibetan Administration. The event opened with a ritual in which participants chanted "Om" three times and tossed tsampa (barley flour) into the air. Attendees also made mandala offerings by bowing and placing a white ceremonial scarf before a photo of the Dalai Lama. The celebration continued with speeches, traditional Tibetan songs and dances, and performances by students from a local Tibetan Sunday school.

A Roman intelligence investigation has led to the arrest of two former Italian intelligence agents, Gavino Raoul Piras and Vincenzo Di Pasquale, who are accused of selling classified information to the Russian GRU (military intelligence). The investigation, which began in 2025, was initiated after the Italian AISI (Internal Security Agency) detected the Russians had recruited an ex-agent. The Russian agent, Mikhail Astakhov, operated under a diplomatic cover in Italy, allowing him to avoid arrest.
U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See Brian Burch has described an informal Independence Day dinner he hosted for Pope Leo XIV at his residence in Rome. Speaking with Italian media, Burch said the pope arrived at 7:30 p.m. on July 4, prayed with the ambassador's family, and shared a meal featuring American charcuterie, watermelon salad, Chicago-style hot dogs, apple pie, and gelato. Burch said Leo XIV approved of the menu. The pope arrived without aides or secretaries, accompanied only by two Vatican gendarmes. Burch said he invited Leo XIV to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States by hosting the first U.S.-born pope. The invitation was sent about two months before the dinner, and confirmation came about a month later. The ambassador also said Leo XIV still carries a Peruvian credit card, uses a cellphone, follows the Chicago White Sox, and sometimes wakes during the night to check soccer scores. The dinner took place the same day Leo XIV visited Lampedusa. Burch said the pope rejected …Hafa
National Rally leader Marine Le Pen has been sentenced to 3 years in prison (2 of which are suspended) and fined €100,000 The remaining one year will be served under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. The court also reduced her political ineligibility from 5 years to 45 months (3.7 years), of which she has already served 30 months. Because Le Pen had already begun serving the disqualification from the initial ruling, the court ruled that the ineligibility period has been satisfied, making her eligible to run in France’s April 2027 presidential election. Le Pen has previously stated that she would not seek the presidency if forced to campaign while wearing an electronic ankle monitor.

Today, Leo XIV appointed Monsignor Christian Würtz, 55, as Bishop of Eichstätt, Germany. Leo XIV again chose a canon lawyer.
