Funeral for a male dancer turns into a comedy performance. Dancer, choreographer, and social worker Thierry Parmentier, 74, was given a funeral in the Catholic church of Caldogno, Italy, on June 24. He had planned the event himself, including its music, choreography and performances. Belgian-born, Parmentier had lived in the Vicenza area for over 40 years and staged productions to raise funds for AIDS research. The church was filled with Doctor Clown volunteers, biodance and holistic practitioners, and stilt-walkers. Don Gigi Maistrello, chaplain to Vicenza prison, preached the homily. After the funeral, an animated procession accompanied the coffin to the parish centre, where the farewell continued with music, dance and performances.

A priest has been killed and four people injured in a knife attack at the Benedictine abbey in Jarosław, Poland, on September 24. Police say a 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen attacked four men and a woman shortly before 9:30 a.m. and was detained at the scene. Fr. Stanisław died from his injuries. Fr. Marek was seriously wounded. The other victims were also hospitalized. The motive has not yet been established.

Syriac Catholic Patriarch Ignatius Youssef III Younan has accused Curia Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, of helping orchestrate an effort to remove him. Younan told the Substack.com-account 'The Pillar' that Gugerotti encouraged bishops to turn against him. He also alleges that Gugerotti helped develop the new papal law now being used against him.
